Anyone who wishes to be a member, please post to the message board telling us so and we'll send you a copy of the entry test post haste! We suggest swotting up here and at GG's former site first, and look here too. Anyway, here are the launch day goodies - as today is 20 November!

v0.573 of the Dance Dance Revolution FAQ
First version - Drummania FAQ
First version - Guitar Freaks FAQ

Now to answer a few questions and address a few issues regarding BOM, myself and this site:

FAQS: The Drummania and Guitar Freaks FAQs are all-new. They lack a few details still, but they're more than good enough for public release. The new DDR FAQ includes PAL sync codes for 5th and Extra MIXes, step hints for 5th MIX, as well as arcade/PSX 5th MIX bug/changes info. It also hopefully will stop people emailing me telling me that .59 means Tengoku. IT DRIVES ME NUTS AND IS PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS SITE! Or so I determined since this site is nuts. Well okay, maybe it's nothing to do with this. Something which is NOT in my DDR FAQ, though, is a foolstyle guide. Foolstyle is the freestyle alternative created by us (BOM) consisting of stupid poses and parodies. If we're going to look stupid playing DDR, then we may as well look stupid on purpose! Well, actually, I just can't be serious playing DDR, it's just not me...but now you can learn moves like the Escape Dog and the Knackered Walrus! Those wishing to learn the art of foolstyle can see myself or Kupster about it. Compared to traditional freestyle, it's relatively simple and rather effective. I'll explain more on foolstyle later

T-SHIRTS: BOM T-Shirts are currently designed, and we'll post the proposed designs on the site soon. You can voice your preferences and opinions on our message board! Our rough design currently has the scenery from Day Dream on the front with the caption, "r u ready?". The design for the back hasn't been finalised yet, but it's quite possible that they could be personalised slightly (ie, members names), or another slogan, such as BEAUTIFUL SPORT, CHALLENGE GAME, INTELLIGENT PLAY, ...OR FOOL, NOW:LOADING,,, , POWER PLAY IN MUSIC CITY, DO YOUR BEST!, SPINNING 'ROUND, and of course WHAT YOU WANT? - another option is simply 'BOM' in large letters. It would be just as effective. Personally I'd like these T-Shirts to be black, but that'd cost a fair bit of money so until membership increased, you get a T-Shirt transfer! Initial T-Shirts will probably be printed up in mid December, but those in a rush might be able to get 'beta' T-Shirts early! Hooray!

MEMBERSHIP: All BOM members will get assigned pointless and stupid joke names based on song titles. These are just for fun and you don't need to call anyone this (besides, it would be rather stupid). BOM members will be required to take the BOM quiz, results will be forwarded to you and it may or may not affect your 'ranking'. The quiz is more of an initiation than a test of knowledge.

SHORT TERM BOM PLANS: BOM's main aim in the short term is going to be the same as RTF's - to stimulate friendly competitions in Australia. Overseas people are just as welcome to become members, of course, but we're not Hunting For You! In the future, we hope to have score and song rankings and so forth for members across Australia to compare each other on! Here is the currently proposed information:

Dance Dance Revolution:Perfect Attack, Song Rankings (D-AA (5th MIX only))
Drummania: Song Rankings (D-SS), Perfect Attack, Max Combo - no Auto Bass permissable
Guitar Freaks: Song Rankings (D-SS), Perfect Attack, Max Combo
Drummania/GF Session: High Score
Para Para Paradise: No plans as yet
KeyboardMania: No plans as yet (will be done)
DanceManiaX: No plans as yet - no demand
Beatmania: No plans as yet - no demand
Beatmania IIdx: Too few machines available

PSX ranking may be done in the future.

BOM AND RTF: Myself (GurtyGurt/GG), Kupster, Hiroshi and Seraph are all members of RTF also, but apart from that, BOM has no ties with RTF. None of us will be quitting RTF because of this. So, why do we need two teams? Well, there's four main reasons: Firstly, RTF is more serious than BOM. Secondly, because even with myself as a Deputy Leader for Brisbane, it's very tricky to get things going the way you want in RTF because it has a different structure. With BOM, we can organize the team as we please - rankings, small competitions, and so forth are all possible. The third reason is, there are no other large teams to contend with RTF in competitions! Finally, observers often complain that DDR is too much unlike dancing - although BOM members don't need to foolstyle or even to learn how to foolstyle, foolstyling gives people the option to add a little humour to your dance. People might laugh anyway, so it may as well be funny on purpose. Especially if you have a wicked sense of humour! So, in summary, RTF is not BOM, BOM members should not quit RTF, and BOM is seperate from RTF because of different interests, similar goals, to increase competition and to revolutionize Bemani gameplay!

WHAT IS FOOLSTYLE?: Foolstyle is a mixture between a parody of various freestyle moves and techniques, stupid poses and general slapstick comedy. Whereas freestyle is meant to look 'cool', and sometimes does and sometimes doesn't, foolstyle's aim is to look either crazy, zany, funny or stupid, and rather than to humiliate the player, it is aimed to make the game funnier. This may involve doing something humiliating, like getting punched in the nuts to perform a kneedrop (The Knackered Walrus), but the emphasis is it's DELIBERATE! This may not appeal to everyone, but the range of possible foolstyle moves are broad. Some of these individual moves may have existed in some form previously, but it was us that brought them together and named them, as well as naming the style itself. Foolstyle is not hard to do - but sometimes painful. It is less risky than most freestyling. Members of BOM are not required to learn it, and likewise you don't have to be a member of BOM to do it!

WHAT COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS ARE COMING UP?: Today (20 November, 2001) there is a 20, November contest at Timezone (or Replay if they get 4th MIX Plus in time!). RTF is holding a similar contest so I'll explain that first: Simply find a 3rd MIX machine, do 20, November on Maniac and write down a Perfect Attack score. BOM's 20 November comp will be held in the afternoon sometime and you simply have to do a pafo routine, freestyle routine or foolstyle routine to 20, November on Basic/Trick/Maniac, using any settings, using either the 3rd MIX or 2nd MIX steps. You can enter more than once, but you must use your own credits to play! Team routines welcome, but you don't have much time, do you? The competition will begin in the afternoon and end at 5pm roughly. Find a BOM member at Replay or Timezone to enter!
